Campaign Log - May 21, 2016
Subtle Sabotage
  • One and a half days remain for preparation before the race of eight winds
  • Realizing the Dragon requires at least eight crew to operate efficiently, Zoot approaches Nesinger in his office to request 10 crew be provided. Nesinger agrees to supply navy personnel, and Zoot stipulates that they must all wear a red shirt.
  • Zoot also makes a deal with Nesinger to purchase and install four ballista for the Dragon.
  • Tex wishes to wager money on the race, so he finds a bookie and pets 1500 gp for dragon to win at 2:1 odds.
  • Tex inquires about last years race, and the bookie reveals that Griffin won by 600 ft followed by Pegasus; Hawk and Hippogriff dropped out during the race. Also, Griffin pays the council of eight winds for a good starting position near the middle of the formation.
  • Jubal threatens a goblin in Durra to lean the Bat crew hangs at the Brown Cobweb.
  • Entering the Brown Cobweb, Proto walks straight to the hobgoblin bartender and asks “where are the Bats?”. She point at a group of goblinoids in the corner.
  • Proto moves directly to the Bat’s sitting around a table and tells them “I believe we are enemies and I am probably here to kill you all”.
  • Rhogar quickly steps in and offers the Bat an alliance with Dragon.
  • Captain B’nar, hobgoblin captain of the Bat, promises they will not attack Dragon if someone prevents Griffin from attacking Bat.
  • Jubal and Rhogar agree to the condition, and Proto suggests they kill the Bat crew now.
  • Hester is interested by the goblinoids and questions Captain B’nar, who admits he has placed personal bets that Bat will eliminate pegasus, Griffin will win, and Owl will eliminate Dragon.
  • Hester asks Captain B’nar if she can help them sabotage Griffin. He tells her that he sneaks a goblin onto Griffin’s ship before the race each year but none have survived. He says she is welcome to try.
  • Meanwhile, on the Dragon in the Nesinger factory, Zoot and Nesinger’s mechanics install high strength cables and winches which can be used with the ballistas.
  • Zoot commissions a Servorval’s Fine Beverages banner to hang on the opposite side of the Dragon as the gun merchant’s banner Hester acquired.
  • The party meets on the Dragon in the evening and exchange news and formulate a strategy.
  • Hester wants to sneak onto the Griffin with the goblin. The party advise against going, so Strax selflessly offeres to go with her. Zoot give Strax 9 aether vials to overload the Griffin’s engines.
  • The party enters Nesinger’s office and express concerns of sabotage or spies in the Nesinger factory. Nesinger assures the party that the factory is secure and the guards are reliable, but he posts Grinder on the deck of the ship for the night.
  • The party spends the night in the Dragon. Grinder keeps watch on the deck while Rhogar hides in a high vantage point.
  • Hester tries to sneak out, but Tex spots her leaving and stops her. Hester insists on visiting Captain B’nar, so Tex obliges to go with her. The two of the leave quietly.
  • As Tex and Hester make their way to Durra, An ogre approaches from behind and menaces Hester.
  • Tex unloads his bullets into the ogre while hester uses her magic to drain it’s life and defeat it.
  • Leaving the corpse in the street, Tex and Hester enter the Brown Cobweb, but there is no one from the Bat.
  • Discouraged, Tex and Hester return to the Dragon to sleep.
  • Late in the night, Rhogar is keeping watch when he notices a shadowed figure scurry beneath the Dragon.
  • Stealthily moving closer, Rhogar can see the figure is wearing Nesinger mechanic’s uniform and using metal hooks to quietly climb onto the ship.
  • Concealed by his invisibility cloak, Rhogar yells out a warning of the saboteur.
  • Grinder springs into action against the intruder. Proto and Rhogar quickly join the combat.
  • Rhogar manages to grab hold of the man and attempts to intimidate him into submission. The saboteur is too alarmed to answer and manages to break free of Rhogar’s grasp.
  • Proto beats the man to death and takes off his hair as a bounty.
  • Rhogar inspects the corpse to find standard mechanic’s tools and notably a bill of mark against the Dragon signed by Orval Brindmoor.
  • Grinder disposes of the body in the pit, then he, Proto, and Rhogar continue their watch of the Dragon.
  • When Nesinger arrives in the morning, Rhogar is waiting and shows him the bill of mark. Nesinger informs Rhogar that Orval is a leading member of the merchant’s guild, a district supporting Owl.
  • Nesinger promises to provide Naval guards for the Dragon until the race begins.
  • Rhogar concocts a plan in which Tex would impersonate the saboteur to trick Owl into thinking their attempt was successful..

Campaign Log - April 23, 2016
Entering the Race
  • The party gathers around a cafe table eating breakfast with Henry Nesinger.
  • Nesinger describes the race of eight winds and asks the party to represent the military as the ninth ship in the race.
  • The party agrees and will race known as the blue and gold Dragon.
  • With three days to prepare, the party divides themselves in order to collect information about the other teams and make modification to their ship.
  • Tex manages to buy a flask of dragon ale from a shady bar tender, but Rhogar takes one sniff and informs Tex the dragon ale has been diluted.
  • Thogar then pays the bartender to learn where the dragon ale had come from. Rhogar is told to go to Malion’s Gate and tell a man named Mikale that Lancer sent him.
  • Zoot Tex and Proto head to the Nesiger factory where their ship has been moved and put under heavy guard.
  • Nesinger’s workers are outfitting the airship with blue and gold banners when Zoot begins fabricating an aether boost mechanism in the airship’s engine.
  • Proto seeks Grinder and overhears a conversation in Nesinger’s office. The office is completely dark and Proto feels an ominous presence.
  • Nesinger speaks of the town of Albin and the race being a distraction. The room remains dark until the ominous presence leaves.
  • Proto immediately enters Nesinger’s office and asks to speak with grinder.
  • Taking Proto aside, Grinder offers him entry into an illegal warforged fight club in the factory.
  • Rhogar and Jubal take a sky coach to Highwater where they find a tavern supporting the Pegasus.
  • The bouncer outside refuses entry, assuming Rhogar supports the Owl based on his brown clothing.
  • After being terribly insulted, Rhogar spits acid on the bouncer’s face, melting most of its skin off.
  • With the bouncer distracted, Rhogar and Jubal enter the tavern and discretely observe the Pegasis captain, Andreis Carter, at a table with his crew.surrounded by rambunctious supporters.
  • Rhogars lip reading ability and Jubal’s keen ears allow them to learn the Pegasus has paid Owl to attack another ship during the race.
  • Rhogar brings two pitchers of beer to the captain’s table and offers it with a cheer for Pegasus. The beer is gladly accepted and Rhogar strikes up a conversation with captain Carter.
  • Captain Carter says the Pterosaur will lose first and the Griffin, Pegasus’ biggest rival, won’t be a problem this year which leads Rhogar to believe Pegasus hired Owl to attack Griffin.
  • Hester goes to a shooting range to ask about long range armaments. The store owner gives Hester two carbine rifles in return for putting a banner, advertising his store, on the Dragon.
  • Zoot is to busy to pay attention when Proto tries to tell him of Nesinger’s conversation, so Proto wanders around the factory.
  • Eventually, Proto finds a huge hangar bay with ranks of automaton warriors, each automaton has the demonic symbol on the back of its neck.
  • Jubal and Rhogar leave Highwater and take make their way to the city magister’s to acquire rosters for the race.
  • After collecting the name of each captain and the district associated with each ship in the race, Jubal and Rhogar decide to find the Hawk crew first.
  • Jubal and Rhogar find a group wearing hawk armor at the Red Feather tavern in Rattle Stone. They observe the Hawk crew while ordering drinks from the bar.
  • Jubal approaches the Hawk captain with pitchers of beer as a peace offering. He convinces their captain, Matthew Tarfeather, that Owl has it out for Hawk.
  • After Rhogar suggests the idea, Capitan Tar Feather agrees to a non-aggression alliance between Dragon and Hawk and to prevent Griffin and Pegasus from winning.
  • Tex detects scrying spells have been placed on the Dragon airship’s upper deck and in the wheelhouse, however was unable to discern the source.
  • Accepting Grinder’s offer, Proto finds his way to the pit, a large hole in the floor of one of the Nesinger factory bays where two automatons battle each other until one is unable to fight.
  • In the first match, Grinder vs. Lightfingers, Grinder is a vicious and powerful fighter and is victorious after little resistance from Lightfingers.
  • Tex hears cheering and after realizing what was happening rushes over to place a small bet on Proto at 3:1 odds. Imitating Tex, Proto bets 4,000 gp on himself.
  • In the second match, Proto fights a large blocky automaton called Tank. Proto gets in several early hits, but then breaks his wrench.
  • The combatants exchange various forms of damage until Proto trips and falls to the ground. He endures several hits from Tank before rising and retaliating with a stunning series of attacks.
  • It is just enough from Proto to disable Tank and win the match. His bet earned him a chest filled with 12,000 gp.
  • In the third match, Grinder finishes off an automaton called Prometheus by cutting him into two pieces.
  • Jubal and Rhogar next seek out the Owl crew in Rattle Stone. Jubal asking a random stranger leads where to go leads them to the Double Bolder bar in the Bazzar.
  • Inside all the serving girls are topless and the patrons are drunk and obnoxious. Captain Scarlet Montefew calmly sips wine in a far corner surrounded by the Owl crew.
  • Rhogar approaches Captain Scarlet and blatantly offers to match whatever bribe Pegasus gave them so that Owl will attack Pegasus as well as Griffin.
  • Captain Scarlet graciously agrees. Before parting, Rhogar asks about the black market in the Bazaar and the man Mikale. Captain Scarlet reveals Mikale is known to be a swindler and that Rhogar should seek a goblin called Gar in the Cogs to procure black market items.
  • Tex and Proto lug the chest full of coin onto the Dragon and upon seeing Proto’s heavy damage, Zoot set upon making repairs to Proto.
  • Early on the next day, Rhogar, Hester, and Jubal join the rest of the party on the Dragon. The whole party regroups then sets out together.
  • The party stops by Nesinger’s office before leaving the factory. Zoot and Rhogar are able to persuade Nesinger into paying the 6000 gp necessary to bribe Owl.
  • With the funds in hand, the party visits the Owl capitain. The funds are quickly exchanged and the deal is set. Owl will sabotage the Pegasus engine before the race and attack Griffin during the race.
  • The party travel deep down the city into the goblinoid ghetto below the cogs in search of the black market.
  • Jubal stops a random goblin but receives a knife attack instead. Before Jubal can retaliate, Zoot gives the goblin a gold piece to take the party to Gar.
  • In a hidden stall under a huge tent in the goblin market, the party meets Gar, a goblin wearing a tattered top hat and worn out suit.
  • Tex asks to buy dragon ale, but Rhogar checks the first bottle Gar produces which has been diluted with water. Rhogar’s vicious appearance intimidates Gar into selling Tex a bottle of full strength dragon ale.
  • After testing his arm in an apparently dysfunctional bag of holding, Zoot haggles with Gar to purchase another, more functional, bag of holding.
  • Rhogar purchases unnaturally silent chain mail, and Proto buys a set of brass knuckles, which Gar called fire punchers, that ignite in fire on contact.
  • Hester visits an apothecary and purchases a laxative herb called green moss.

Campaign Log - March 27, 2016
Necromancer's Bounty
  • Jubal and Proto return to the party’s hotel and inform everyone of their last night’s deeds.
  • Zoot checks the morning’s broadsheet and learns they are not suspected of arson.
  • The party returns to the burned wreckage of the necromancer’s lair.
  • As they enter the undamaged basement, Zoot is struck by a wave of fear. Tex drags Zoot down the stairs anyway.
  • Below the ruins is a room containing embalming implements and notes for performing a ritual to put a soul into an embalmed corpse.
  • Under the notes, Zoot finds a ledger recording an interaction with Madam Horshane, the noble widow.
  • In the corner of the room is a ladder leading down a shaft to a trap door.
  • Tex promptly blows the door open with a fire bolt from his pistol.
  • The party descends the ladder to enter a stone cavern with a sewage pipe coming out of one wall.
  • Proto attempts to climb into the pipe, but before he can do so, two giant crocodiles burst from the sewer water and attack the party.
  • The party very noisily destroys the crocodiles, much to Rhogar’s dismay.
  • Rhogar takes pont as the party follows the water down a tunnel into a sewer network.
  • Rhogar spots gould hiding in the water, but they attack before he can take action against them.
  • During the fight, Thogar pulls up his hood and vanishes from sight, then immediately missteps, falling into the sewage.
  • Hester openly casts an incantation and flies from the rear of the party to engage the ghouls.
  • Zoot is astonished to see Hester cast fly and activates his propulsion pack to follow her.
  • Tex decides to taunt Zoot by casting fly himself and following Zoot.
  • Zoot’s mind is blown by the unbelievable sight of people flying, which he has dedicated himself to accomplishing with machines.
  • Rhogar is enraged at being covered in refuse and the ghouls are quickly slaughtered.
  • The party continues down the sewer and soon encountered Adilin.
  • After almost poisoning half the party with a noxious cloud, Jubal snipes Adilin to break her concentration and zoot knocks her out with a lightning bolt.
  • Hester finds Adilin is still alive and heals her with a potion.
  • Rhogar manacler Adilin, Jubal pulls out one of her teeth, and Hester asks why she want s to bring people back to life.
  • Adilin is crazed and tries to convince Hester that she can bring Hester’s circus family back to life if she is allowed to live.
  • Jubal gets impatient and gags Adilin and the part moves back down the sewer.
  • As they walk, hester ungags Adilin and continues questioning her.
  • Adilin reveals her rituals are used to return a soul to a body unlike typical necromancy. Adilin also tells Hester to take her notebook so the work is not lost from history.
  • Upon exiting the basement, the party encounters guards roping off the burned ruins.
  • Jubal shows the guards the bounty, turns Adilin over, and gets paid on the spot.
  • The party returns to the Gilded Dragon to freshen up.
  • Rhogar visits a doctor and receives medicine to prevent sewer plague.
  • Ubal seeks out High Priest Erin Bridges to inquire about the demonic symbol he has seen.
  • After an hour of examining the rune, High Priest Bridges identifies the rune as related to Grazzt and points Jubal toward the mage collage for more information.
  • Zoot, Hester, and Tex disguised as Sebastian the Investor make their way to the nesinger factory.
  • Zoot asks to speak with Mr. Nesinger and is promptly admitted into the man’s office.
  • Zoot suggests to Nesinger that the Expedition Knights provide their privateering services and Nesinger offeres them a job beginning tomorrow.
  • Nesinger and his warforged bodyguard, Grinder, begin to give a tour of the factory.
  • The tour is interrupted as Nesinger has to meet with someone about a Rose.
  • As he shows the party out, Grinder converses with Proto and offeres to show him how real warforged fight some time.
  • Tex asks the receptionist who Nesinger was meeting but she reveals there were do scheduled visits.
  • Proto sneaks back into the factory as the receptionist’s glasses fall to the floor and break.
  • Proto overhears someone telling Nesinger that Admiral Kimings and Commander Antovitch were taken care of as asked. Nesinger then says that the city Albins is next.
  • Meanwhile, Hester gathers writing materials and a blank book. She creates a false copy of the notes taken from Adilin.
  • The party rests in luxury to prepare for their meeting with Nesinger the next morning.

Campaign Log - March 5, 2016
Venture to the Capitol
  • As previously arranged by the party, a beautifully crafted Nesinger Air Company clipper airship arrives in Freeport.
  • Zoot convinces the Nesinger company to deliver the airship to Grundlebeard Keep in Windsor.
  • For the next 125 days, the party begins training with Captain Filone in the use of their new airship.
  • During this time, the party utilizes the down time for personal tasks. They also enjoy a spring festival in Windsor.
  • Zoot builds a brewery near his orchard and renovates the estate to include a laboratory and vault.
  • Proto investigates the 616 warforged being built in Windsor. The 616 continue production with a new crew of workers after the old men were killed by the party.
  • Tex uses his previous disguise as a wealthy investor and meets with Horace. He learns that 3000 warforged are being sent to the capital.
  • A stout dwarf with a beaded beard and dressed in a fine suit visits the estate. He is accompanied by a warforged guard and arrives in a steam powered carriage.
  • The dwarf meets with Zoot and introduces himself as Henry Nesinger. He inquires about the purpose of the party’s recently purchased airship.
  • Zoot tells Nesinger it is for personal transport as he is building up a new cider business.
  • Shortly after Nesinger’s visit, all of the 616 presence in windsor seems to vanish overnight.
  • Around the same time, the Hand of the Sun mobilize a large convoy of soldiers and march out of Windsor.
  • A broadsheet article informs the party that Admiral Kimings of Hyguard and his wife were found dead. A bloody Katovka dagger was found on the grounds of their estate.
  • Soon thereafter, another article informs the party that Commander Antovitch of Kotavka was assassinated. The Czar believes this was retaliation for Kimings’ death. Henry Nesinger is immediately named the new Admiral of the Hyguard Navy.
  • After much research at the abbey, Hester learns of a magic book of intellect hidden near the border between Hyguard and Balincroth.
  • Proto and Jubal seek a priest in the abbey. They ask him about the demonic symbol found on Heskin and learn that it is a summoning rune used by cults.
  • With the brewery up and running and their training complete, the party sets off in their airship bound for the Hyguard capitol.
  • The city is surrounded by airship traffic. Large skyscrapers jut into the sky. A hill covered in exquisite manors lead up to the queen’s castle.
  • As soon as the party enters town, they are met by their favorite map salesman peddling his wares. Zoot buys each of the 5 district maps and is pointed to the Gilded Dragon Inn as the best place to stay.
  • The party takes the dragon rail to the richest district in town and enter the Gilded Dragon Inn.
  • Tex disguises himself as a dirty beggar. When confronted by the doorman, he is able to bribe his way past and convinces a skeptical concierge to rent the ambassador suite to the party.
  • The party cleans up in their fancy suite and then head to the garrison to register as privateers.
  • Adonicus Hybarr, in full steam turbine armor, sits at the main desk in the garrison. He is dissatisfied by his paper pushing position but provides the party with the necessary paperwork.
  • The party is officially licensed as the Expedition Knights with authority to kill anyone who threatens citizens of Hyguard.
  • Jubal asks about bounties and Adonicus shows him a large wall covered in outstanding bounties. The largest bounty is for Ivos Zilrai, head of the Free Peoples of the Greenlands.
  • Jubal picks a bounty for Adalyn Wickham. She is charged with practicing Necromancy and was last seen in the capitol.
  • Tex returns to the hotel, takes a bath, and orders room service.
  • Proto, Jubal, and Hester ask around the manor district in search of Adalyn. They enter a noble woman’s house who was the last person known to associate with Adalyn.
  • After speaking to the woman, they learn that Adalyn had offered to bring the woman’s husband back to life. Proto immediately offends the woman, who storms upstairs enraged.
  • Jubal flashes his privateer credentials and pushes past the woman’s butler to follow her upstairs. After further questioning, Jubal receives Adalyn’s business card.
  • The butler feels harassed, so he records Jubal’s information in a notebook and threatens to report Jubal’s actions to the authorities.
  • Jubal and Proto both intimidate the butler into giving up the notebook
    Zoot heads to the Merchant district and establishes trade connections with four local taverns
  • Tex hits on the female dwarf concierge. He convinces her to give him a “sponge bath” for 500 gold.
  • Hester, Proto and Jubal make their way to the address on the business card which is in the manufacturing district. Jubal and Proto enter the small house while Hester hides outside.
  • In the basement is an open hatch. When they enter, Proto gets an ominous feeling.
  • Proto and Jubal decide to return in greater numbers. Before they leave, proto sets fire to the house.They quickly leave the scene and return to the hotel.

Campaign Log - February 20, 2016
Building a Business
  • Zoot gathers everyone in the dining room to discuss future plans. He gives a marvelous presentation outlining his plan for the party to buy an airship, learn to fly it, register as privateers, and fund it all with a cider side business.
  • Proto reveals to the group the enormous wealth they now possess.
  • On the 8th of Melting 1885, the entire party takes a carriage to Freeport.
  • Headed to the docks, the party spots a new branch office of the Nessinger air company.
  • Insize Zoot finds Franklin Copper and arranges for a fine clipper airship to be brought from the capital in one week.
  • After leaving the office, Zoot approaches a half orc doc worker and asks where to get a drink. The man responds with the Scarlet Rose.
  • The party takes the Dragon Rail to commonside and sit at a table in the Scarlet Rose.
    Zoot asks Madam Scarlet if there are any captains in need of work. She tells the party to wait for her and she will set up interviews.
  • To pass the time, the party relaxes in the Scarlet Rose. Tex participates in some gambling.
    Three hours pass, and madam Scarlet returns and leads the party into a side room with three capitain candidates.
  • The first is a human woman named Mara Greycastle, former captain of the Grey Princess. She wears fine clothes and has good posture and manors. She inherited her ship from her father but claims it was destroyed by elves.
  • The second is an surly, bearded human man with a face covered in warts. His name is Gregor Penn, the former captain of the sharp Needle. He says he won his ship in a bet, but it was later confiscated.
  • Jubal recognizes Penn and remembers there is a 40 gp bounty on his head.
  • The third candidate is a handsome half elf named Emeral Filone. He wears fine robes and has an arrogant manner. His ship, the Green Falcon, was destroyed by the Queen’s navy for smuggling.
  • The party sends the candidates out of the room so they can deliberate with Madam Scarlet. She informs the party that Gregor lost his ship in another bet, and Emeral was caught smuggling elves from Balincroth.
  • When the candidates are brought back in, Jubal shoots Gregor for the bounty. Mara vomits and Emeral is intimidated.
  • The party hires Emeral, but on his way out, Jubalthreatens to turn him in for the bounty if he crosses the party.
  • The party makes their way to a bank and exchanges some gems, giving 3000 gp to each party member.
  • The party walks out of town to a local winery in search of a master brewer.
  • At the Hilltopple winery, the owner, an old halfling man named Erin Hilltopple, is persuaded by Zoot to give a tour of the winery.
  • When Zoot offers to hire a brewer for his own business, Erin is unwilling to help and tells the party to leave because he is very busy.
  • As the party leaves, Erin’s son, Eric approaches them and begs them to take him along. He is resentful of his father for forcing him to run the winery and is excited by the idea of being paid.
  • The party agrees to hire Eric, and they allow him to accompany them back to the Scarlet Rose.
  • The next morning, over breakfast provided by Madam Scarlet, the party interviews three potential estate stewards.
  • The first is a halfling who abruptly stops shoveling food in his mouth when the party walks in. He has a crippled shoulder from fall while cleaning a balcony at this last job. He was previously in charge of the house staff for a local aristocrat but was fired after the accident.
  • The second candidate, Romero Churnan, is a human male in a fine uniform with a twitching eye. He previously managed an apartment complex in Freeport, but was fired after being caught in an affair with his bosses wife.
  • The third candidate is named Jonder Hatiara, a human man with a tribal tattoo covering one side of his face. He is the head of an acting troupe that has declined in popularity since another troupe run by Spearshakes came to town.
  • After deliberating, the party decided Lyle is most qualified and will be the most loyal steward. The party offers Lyle the job and he accepts.
  • The party eagerly awaits the arrival of their new airship.

Campaign Log - January 30, 2016
Restoring Kimbek Keep
  • The party begins by searching the den more thoroughly when suddenly, a specter pops out of the bear rug and pulls Jubel through the floor.
  • The remaining party decides to head upstairs, but on their way through the ballroom, Lord Kimbek reappears and summons two more specters.
  • After a tough fight, the specters are defeated and Kimbek retreats through the floor.
  • As the party moves up stairs, the first thing they see is a porcelain doll with it’s eyes smudged off.
  • Tex shoots the doll and it shatters.
  • The first room the party enters has a clean bed, an empty chest of drawers, and a large mirror.
  • Tex jumps into the bed and falls asleep immediately, while hester breaks the mirror and proto ransacks the chest of drawers.
  • When Proto tries to smash the bed, he falls asleep on top of Tex.
  • Tex and Proto don’t awaken until they are dragged out of the room.
  • The party enters a sitting room with a harpsichord.
  • When Zoot plays a key on the harpsichord, its eyes open and a tongue comes out to wrap around his arm.
  • Zoot breaks free from the mimic as the party quickly destroys it.
  • The next door opens into a walk in closet.
  • Rhogar finds a flask and gives it to Tex, who drinks it down without a second thought, temporarily invigorating him.
  • Across the hall is a broom closet with some bottles of shoe polish that Tex adapts into molotov cocktails.
  • At the end of the hall, the party finds a room with a ghostly woman in a bath. She is holding a knife to her throat.
  • After the party speaks to the woman, she disappears revealing her withered corpse in the tub. Tex grabs the black pearl necklace off the body.
  • Next to the bathroom is a lady’s dressing room. Zoot finds the diary of Amelia in the makeup desk.
  • From the diary, the party learns how, after the death of their second child, Virginia, Lord Kimbek became obsessive and distant. Soon after that, Alan disappeared. Amelia became consumed with loneliness.
  • From the dressing room, the party finds a large attic filled with various trinkets.
  • The party exits the attic into the master bedroom. As they search the room, 3 gargoyles fly through the window.
  • After learning that lightning is effective, the party finishes off the gargoyles.
  • When zoot sits in the rocking chair, the nightstand drawer unlocks. Inside is a small silver key.
  • When Rhogar tries to push his hand out the window, a cold blackness hold him in.
  • Outside the master bedroom, the party finds a child’s room. The baby ghost of Virginia is in the crib. She cries for her doll.
  • Hester mends the porcelain doll and gives it to Virginia.
  • Virginia asks to get out and play. When hester removes Virginia from the crib, the toy chest unlocks revealing a scroll.
  • Next to Virginia’s room, Tex notices a door that has been sealed over.
  • Proto breaks open the door and the party enters Alan’s room.
  • Alan’s room is full of books about puzzles and riddles, Alan appears and gives two riddles the party believe relate to Proto’s Blood Sword.
  • Rhogar notices a spot where a painting once hung. When he hangs a painting he found hidden earlier, a secret floorboard opens. Inside is a bright red leather coat, warm to the touch.
  • Back in the study, Tex uses the new key to unlock the magic drawer. He finds another key with images of screaming faces on it.
  • By finding a clue in a book, the party learns that the hydra candelabra lights when the draconic word for “light” is spoken.
  • The party finally heads to the cellar. There is a heavy iron door blocking their way which the party is able to open with the screaming key.
  • The room beyond the door is directly below the ball room and of the same size and shape. 8 columns with the same carvings as those in the ballroom stretch from floor to ceiling.
  • The party moves into the room and sees, along the walls, tables covered in decayed alchemical components and arcane implements.
  • A large stone coffin sits ajar in the center of the room. Inside is the body of Lord Kimbek.
  • The party keeps their guard up and takes a short rest. They then decide to have proto stab the body with his blood sword.
  • A shower of blood erupts when the sword makes contact. Blood also begins to run from the walls and seep up from the floor. It fills the room so quickly, the party has to swim out and move back to the ballroom.
  • Lord Kimbek’s ghost awaits the party there as blood rains from the ceiling and the walls expel waterfalls of blood.
  • The party engages lord kimbek in combat.
  • Zoot temporarily slows Kimbek temporarily. Proto drinks Zoot’s growth potion and expands to a large size.Tex slips in the blood.
  • Lord Kimbek’s attacks age Proto, Tex, and Hester by 30 years.
  • After several attacks from the party, Kimbek explodes into white light, knocking everyone else against the walls and knocking them out.
  • As they awake, the manor has been restored to full glory!
  • The party rush outside and see Strax pull up to the manor in a carriage. Meanwhile, Tiberius and Jubel are found, bewildered, in the cellar.
  • Rhogar investigates the cellar and finds a secret passage leading out near the road.
  • Tex investigates the mausoleum and finds, in shallow graves outside, the corpses belonging to the victims of Kimber’s blood rituals. He respectfully burns all the bodies.
  • Inside the mausoleum, are the bodies of the kimbek family and Wilber Grundlebeard. Victor’s tomb is empty.
  • As Zoot strolls through the apple orchard, Proto finds him and draws a card from this deck. The card of gems turns into a sack of valuable gems.

Campaign Log - January 16, 2016
Mystery Manor
  • The party decides to lie low at the inn and take some down time.
  • Zoot spends the entire time in his room improving Proto’s and Rhogar’s weapons.
  • Jubel builds a silencer and attaches it along with his recently acquired scope to one of his riles.
  • Proto lives lavishly and mingles with the upper class, gaining a snobbish outlook on society.
  • Rhogar ready Hesken’s Journal and learns the details of his betrayal.
  • Tex gets drunk until he realizes Hester is missing, so he goes to finder her. She is lurking around the catacombs.
  • Tiberious goes underground and changes his look as to be less identifiable from the wanted posters.
  • After 3 days, Tiberius returns and the party decides to leave town. They head north towards the mysterious keep.
  • Along the way, the party finds a decrepit wagon. The footprints of a girl lead away. It seems some event took place 3 days ago, but the wagon and surrounding area look to be 50 years decayed.
  • As the sun sets, a banshee approaches and the party engages.
  • The banshee’s howl knocks out half the party, but Juble’s sniper rifle quickly destroys it.
  • After a short rest, the party follows the footprints leading into the woods.
  • They find the corpse of a young girl. Zoot takes her doll and Proto takes her necklace, then Tex buries her.
  • It begins raining, so the party takes shelter and rests until morning.
  • A few miles down the road the party reaches Kimbec keep. It looks abandoned and is surrounded by dead apple orchard.
  • The building is run down and an overgrown hedge maze leads to a mausoleum. Unnatural darkness looms all around.
  • As the party approaches the front door, they find ward runes intended to keep something trapped inside.
  • As the party enters, the doors slam behind them and won’t open again
  • The first room they enter has paintings of the manor, a man, and a picture with a moving image of the same man pulling a woman by the hair.
  • Jubel shoots the painting and it bursts into flame. All the candles Zoot lit go out instantly
  • A spectral woman appear briefly and tells the party they must leave.
  • Instead, the party splits up and searches for clues.
  • Tex shoots a bookshelf and ignites a scroll of fireball catching Proto and himself in the explosion.
  • Tiberius is attacked by undead spirits hiding in a piano. One spirit pulls Tiberius through the floor as the rest of the party fights the other specter.
  • The party groups close together and finds a study full of books on magic and potion reagents. There is a locked door that can’t be opened and a hydra shaped candelabra that can’t be lit.
  • A ghostly boy appears and speaks in rhyme. His name is Alan and he appears again when called by name.
  • Moving into the ballroom, the party finds a summoning circle for blood magic. They are confronted by a specter in plate armor claiming to be the estate’s owner.
  • The man disappears and 4 other specters appear to fight the party. They destroy them with some effort.
  • Alan reappears with a new riddle.
  • In the next hall, Tex is enveloped by a gelatinous cube, which the party proceeds to destroy before it dissolves him.
  • In the kitchen, Rhogar finds a red ruby ring and Zoot finds a skeleton in the closet. When he doesn’t take the skeleton’s outstretched hand it comes alive and has to be destroyed.
  • Also the kitchen has a door opening to utter blackness. The room grows unnaturally hot, so the party moves on.
  • The party enters a room full of statues that depict angels covering their eyes. When noone is looking, the statues move around. Jubel and Proto are teleported to the entrance of the house. The rest of the party closes the door and leaves the room alone.
  • Yet another room is filled with dead plants except for the enormous carnivorous flower. The party quickly burns it.
  • Inside a small chapel, the party finds an altar to Mishikal. The tapestry with his symbol has * been defiled, and a black leather book with a sacrificial ritual lies open. Proto takes the book and Zoot cleans the tapestry.
  • Through a glass domed area, the party finds a den with several animal heads and pelts. the bear skin rug tries to eat Jubel so he fills it with holes.
  • The party has fully explored the ground floor, but don’t know a way out of the building. They must explore further to solve the mystery.

Campaign Log - January 2, 2016
Hesken's Demise
  • The party prepares to enter the basement of the Nesinger Factory in search of Heskan.
  • The doors leading down are electrified, so Rhogar melts their power wires with acid breath and opens the doors.
  • There are stairs leading down into a room with a blue glow where three large steam turbines lay in the center and five small turbines line one wall.
  • The corridor leading to the second room is lined with tesla coils creating an electric field blocking the party’s progress.
  • Heskan is in the second room and releases a cloud of steam to conceal himself.
  • As the party tries to sever power cables to the coils, one large and several small automatons activate in the second room.
  • Proto accidentally throws his wrench through a hole in the wall then tries to destroy a steam turbine by punching it. His arm gets stuck inside the turbine and he is electrocuted.
  • Jubal and Tex use their guns to take out the large automaton as the others party members disable the coils by cutting cables.
  • After disabling the coils and destroying all he automatons, Heskan uses an invisibility cloak to sneak attack Rhogar, almost killing him.
  • Zoot creates a temporal field, slowing Heskan and Proto’s furious blows temporarily stun him.
  • Rhogar finishes Heskan with an ensnaring strike and proceeds to take his finger with Reshtar’s royal insignia ring of the deep as proof. Hesken also has a journal and a mysterious incomprehensible letter.
  • When the party tries to hide Heskan’s body, there is a brief moment where his eyes flick open and flames flicker out of his mouth before laying lifeless again.
  • Upon further inspection, the party finds a brand on Heskan’s shoulder with a demonic symbol and the number 26.
  • The party leaves through a secret passage and sees dozens of Hand of the Sun guards outside the factory entrance.
  • As Jubal tries to sneak out, a gun falls out of his holster and goes off, attracting the guards.
  • Tex creates a fog cloud around the party which allowed everyone to scatter and safely escape.
  • After the sun comes up, the party regroups at the inn.
  • Zoot found a crystal knob from a door in the factory. It turns out to be a trinket belonging to Thorodin who trades for it a week’s lodging at the Inn for the entire party.
  • Heskan’s Journal reveals that after leaving the deep, he met Horace who introduced him to Jack and Henry Nesinger. Hesken was hired to assassinate aristocrats, and was currently working as Horace’s body guard.
  • The party tries to lie low as they prepare for the next adventure.

Campaign Log - December 20, 2015
Fight in the Factory
  • After a day of investigations, the party meets at the Holy Dawn to form a plan for breaking in and getting to Heskan.
  • As they are discussing, Hand of the Sun guards enter the inn looking for Tiberius.
  • Proto tells the guards Tiberius is upstairs for a 50g reward, but Tiberius escapes by jumping out a window and running away.
  • The party decides to wait until nightfall to sneak into the Nesinger factory from the upper catwalks.
  • Rhogar is the first in, and he is able to sneak up on and subdue the sniper guard.
  • Rhogar learns Heskan is in the basement and the party lets the sniper run away.
  • The party decided there are too many 616 workers in the back of the factory, so Zoot quietly breaks a window allowing the party to enter an empty room on the ground floor.
  • The party searches the front offices and find shipping manifests for Henry Nesinger that appear to cover up exactly how much material is being gathered from other military contracts.
  • Under Horace’s desk, they find a unique aether key and Horace’s passport to Katovka.
  • Meanwhile, Hester stayed on the catwalk and accidentally drew the attention of the factory workers.
  • The party rushed in to fight, and killed all the 616 workers, however during the fight, one of the 616 activated a large warforged.
  • One of the 616 follows Hester as she tries to escape, but Hester syphons his soul and raises him as a zombie.
  • Zoot attempts to control the large remote crane to fight the warforged, but just pushing random buttons does not have the desired effect.
  • Jubal shoots the warforged right in the aether core, causing it to explode.
  • The fight being over, Hester tricks the party by pushing her zombie off the catwalk and dispelling her control.
  • The party now prepares to enter the basement where they believe Heskan awaits.

Nesinger Infiltration
  • The party decides to rent room sat the Scarlet Rose in Freeport in order to take a day for downtime
  • Zoot ventures to the merchant district to sell valuables and purchase gear
  • Tex goes to the mage collage to research demons
  • Hester seeks a fortune teller to learn about the rest of the party
  • In the evening, the party meets back at the rose and Madam Scarlet offers Rhogar some work with her clients
  • Rhogar informs the party that he has found a 616 lair
  • The party decides to invade the lair to collect bounties
  • Zoot tries to persuade the barman to let the party into the basement but fails
  • Rhogar tries to intimidate the barman but fails
  • Tex, who was invisible, shoots the barman in the back of the head
  • The party battles the 616’ers guarding the basement and kill them all
  • On the barman, there is a shipping manifest for ship #7 to deliver goods to 136 Canterbury Ln, Windsor
  • The party opens the trap door and enters the basement to find a sleeping man named Aaron
  • Rhogar interrogates Aaron with a blade to his throat
  • The party learns that the 616 is starting a new base in windsor headed by Horaces
  • Rhogar also learns that Hesken was hired by Jack as an assassin, and he left for windsor 3 days ago
  • During the interrogation, Zoot tries to open a shiny chest which turns out to be a mimic
  • The mimic caught Zoot, but was defeated by Rhogar’s ensnaring strike
  • Further interrogation of Aaron reveals the Nesinger Air company has hired the 616 for a job and has moved 80% of the gang’s strength to the new base
  • The party gags and ties Aaron and brings him along, out of the basement on a skiff through an old sewer way
  • The party emerges in the harbor and approaches ship 7 as it is being loaded with cargo
  • Before a decision can be made, Jubal kills the hostage and throws the body in the water
  • The party considers stowing aboard the ship, but it is too well armed, so they decide to take a carriage to Windsor instead
  • After 4 hours, the party arrives in Windsor shortly before the airship
  • The party takes up positions to watch the airship unload once it arrives
    one crate is seen to contain a warforged head
  • Horace emerges from the ship and the party follows him and the cargo to the Nesinger factory
  • Tex disguises himself, mimicking a local fishmonger
  • The fishmonger immediately calls the Hand of the Sun guards, who threaten him with beheading if he uses magic again
  • The party gets much needed rest at the Inn
    after the sun has gone down,Tiberious & Rhogar keep watch of the nesinger Factory

After a short gunfight in which Tiberious attempts to shoot Horace’s cat, Tiberious escapes by running away

  • The party decides, over breakfast, to collect more information
  • Tex, posing as a rich investor, and Zoot convince a man at the abbey to show them a blueprint of the Nesinger warehouse
  • Zoot works on re-creating the blueprint from memory
  • Tex and Hester use the disguise to infiltrate the nesinger office and get a tour from Horace
  • A bribe of 20g allows them to see the R&D department where a private automiton war force is being built for Mr. Nesinger
  • Tiberious, unsuccessfully try to find criminal contacts in Windsor
  • Rhogar goes to the abbey and learns that bounties are handled strictly by the Hand of the Sun with no accidental death allowed
  • That evening, the party reconvenes at the Inn to discuss their next plans
